March 2002 – Army Ranger Spc. Marc A. Anderson, 30 (Case Western ’94), was killed Monday during a mission, Operation Anaconda, in Afghanistan. Many Florida members learned of Brother Anderson’s connection to the Fraternity on Tuesday when area TV stations and newspapers shared some of the last photos taken of Anderson. On Wednesday, Brother Anderson’s heroics and character were featured in the national media.

The thoughts and prayers of Phi Delta Theta are with Brother Anderson, his family, friends and our service men and women in Afghanistan. In coelo quies est.

Brother Anderson had been a Phi for about two years at Case Western and later transfered to Florida State University.

Florida Gamma and Ohio Eta are looking into establishing a scholarship in Brother Anderson’s memory.
