2021 General Convention in Pittsburgh

Phi Delta Theta Pittsburgh Convention 2021

As the world began to reopen this summer, Phi Delta Theta was excited to help reactivate the fraternal experience safely by hosting the rescheduled 83rd Biennial Convention from July 19–22, 2021 at the Wyndham Grand in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

A later date allowed for the broadest distribution of vaccines for would-be attendees, and a larger facility provided more space to accommodate the program and ensured that attendees followed proper social distancing requirements at the time of the event. Those who chose not to join the meeting in-person were able to experience portions of the event streamed via the Fraternity’s social media accounts.

Regardless of restrictions, the General Convention continued to commemorate Phi Delta Theta and its legislative body. The Convention represented a return to normal after a challenging year and a celebration of the hard work of our staff, volunteers, chapters, and members.

The 82nd Biennial General Convention will take place June 21-24, 2018 at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio in Texas. It will be a momentous celebration for Phi Delta Theta as Phis convene from around the world to meet in the true spirit of The Bond of Phi Delta Theta and enact the supreme legislative powers of the Fraternity.

The 2018 Convention is located just steps away from San Antonio’s River Walk and the iconic Alamo. The historic downtown offers plenty of entertainment and shopping venues, plus events to allow brothers to reconnect with old acquaintances while connecting for the first time with other Brothers in the Bond.

As an alumni club, we are encouraged to take part in all festivities, including a special Alumni Club Roundtable that will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, June 21, prior to the start of the Convention.

Austin Deray, CAB Chairman for the men of DC Alpha at The George Washington University, will be representing the Phi Delta Theta Washington, DC Alumni Club as our voting delegate at Convention. Jason Schwemer will be the alternate delegate.

We hope that you will consider joining us in San Antonio, as well!

More than 600 Phis and their families joined together for Phi Delta Theta Fraternity’s 81st Biennial General Convention in Savannah, Georgia — one of the most charming cities in the United States. In addition to electing the General Council, delegates debated various issues facing the Greek system and voted on amendments to the Constitution and General Statutes of the Fraternity.

Savannah native Chris Dubberly, Mercer, served as the official representative of the Phi Delt DC Alumni Club. He shared this about his convention experience, “The rich history of Phi Delta Theta is something we have all learned to appreciate and historic downtown Savannah was the ideal backdrop for yet another memorable and successful Convention. It was a distinct honor for me to represent the DC alumni club and help shape the direction of the fraternity’s future — especially in my hometown.”

A special thank you to outgoing General Council President Rich Fabritius, Kent State and all the best to newly elected president Jeff Davis, Southeast Missouri State, and the rest of the current council. #PDTConvention

Challenge Coin Campaign for the 79th Biennial General Convention

Challenge Coins DC Convention 2012The Washington DC Alumni Club is proud to host Phi Delta Theta’s 79th Biennial General Convention at the Crystal Gateway Marriot. As a local Phi we certainly hope that you will join us for the this tremendous event!

Whether you’re traveling from Bethesda, Baltimore, Birmingham, or Bismark we want all Phis to have a memorable experience and wanted to provide a “Convention Keepsake” to remember this event.

This is why the alumni club has purchased Challenge Coins to be given to all attendees of the Grand Banquet. Members of the U.S. military have a long-standing tradition of carrying a special coin symbolizing unit identity and esprit de corps. With bonds forged in battle thousands of miles from home, these custom coins minted for military units – each bearing their own revered symbols and mottos – capture in metal the essence of their affiliation and their fierce pride.

Considering that we will be “a stone’s throw” from the Pentagon, we decided that this would be a great way to remember the event and help serve as of remembrance that as Phi Delts, we also have a charge to keep. May we always strive to uphold the principles of Phi Delta Theta in our daily lives as outlined by the Immortal Six.

We are asking area alumni to help underwrite the the expense of these coins by making a contribution of any amount to our WePay page. Regardless of whether you plan on attending Convention or not, if you make a contribution of at least $25, you will receive this special challenge coin. Also, if you make a contribution of $100, you will receive two free tickets to the Washington Nationals game during Convention when Ryan Zimmerman will receive Phi Delta Theta’s Gehrig Award. Tickets in the Fraternity’s block are sold out, but if you give at least $100, we will ensure that you have tickets.

Thanks for your consideration to help make this a memorable cause for Phis in DC! To donate, click here.
